My Dad used to tell my brothers and I stories. Many of these stories were adventure tales involving the "eagle-birdie." Eagle-birdie traveled to strange places. Because eagle-birdie was a bird, he (she?) could fly high, high above and see things from a different angle.
I think my Dad told these stories for many reasons --
- to make us sleepy
- to teach us about the world
- to teach us not to be too scared of the 'unknown.'
- because he loved us
- because he was (and is!) a wonderful person who found (finds) joy and mystery in many little things (and big things!) around us.
My Dad told fantastic stories! If you ever meet him, please ask him about the eagle-birdie!
["Thank you, Dad!" :D]
